Although each season has its highs and lows, Los Cabos enjoys mostly sunny and pleasant weather all year long.
There are plenty of fun things to do in Los Cabos, but some seasons offer different benefits than others.
Read on to learn more about the best time to plan your Los Cabos vacation.
July to September (Low Season)
Summer is generally an excellent time for avoiding crowds and for scoring money-saving hotel deals. But you’ll need to contend with hot, wet weather, which means it’s also peak hurricane season.
The weather during this time is at its hottest, most humid, and rainiest, with temperatures rising above 30°C most afternoons.
The best reason to come to Cabo through the rainy season is if you’re scouting for investments, going on a last-minute getaway, or want to take advantage of rock-bottom luxury resort prices.
October and November (Shoulder Season)
The months of October and November, after the rainy season but before Thanksgiving and Christmas, offer wonderful weather and warm ocean temperatures. These may be busier months than May and June due to fishing tournaments and the first arrival of migratory whales.
Visit during late summer or fall if you’re a fishing aficionado. This is the perfect time to find blue marlin, sailfish, wahoo, and tuna in Cabo waters.
Expect hotel rates to go up as the place gears up for peak season. To avoid budget-busting room rates at this time, it’s best to book early.
December-April (Peak Season)
Winter and spring months are the most popular seasons for travel to Los Cabos. The December through February winter season offers plenty of sunny days and balmy temperatures, making it an ideal time for families and for snowbirds to visit. This is also calving season for humpback whales and the time when migrating whale sharks and gray whales arrive in the area.
You might also want to postpone family vacation during the Spring Break season from March through early April.
March and April mark the arrival of the party crowd, American and Canadian students who come in all together for Spring Break.
Be prepared to deal with heavy crowds and to pay higher rates for flights, accommodations, and tours during these months. Lodging will be hard to find during this time, so you’ll want to start calling villas months or even a year in advance.
The Best Time to Visit Cabo: May to June
Unless you’re comfortable with large crowds and late-night noises, you may want to consider traveling from May to June.
If you want to enjoy comfortable springtime weather, smaller crowds, and fair rates on flights and hotels, the best time to visit Los Cabos is from May to June when the destination recovers from a hectic winter. The weather during these months is warm and sunny, with pleasant water temperatures. Snowbirds have gone home by this time and a potentially stormy summer is yet to arrive.
May to June, after spring break and before the rainy summer season, are also the best months to find post-peak season discounts. However, you may snag the best deals if you start searching for hotels by late winter.
